User Management

note

In the context of user management and access control within Performaar, the term resource is used as a catch-all for Streamers, Streams, Sessions and Recordings.

Creating a User

  1. Click the + New User button.
  2. Enter the required information. The username for each user must be unique. See below for more information about System Roles.
  3. Click the Create button.

Access Control & Permissions

Performaar has two levels of access control: system and resource.

System Roles

A user's system-level role determines their overall permissions within Performaar. The system role for a user can be changed from the Settings > User Management section.

NameDescription
NoneThis user has no system-wide permissions.
ViewerA Viewer can only view all resources but not edit them. They can create new resources from the existing resources they can see (e.g. if they can see a Stream they can create a Session with it)
EditorAn Editor can create, view, edit and delete resources, but doesn't have access to administrator-level settings (eg. licensing).
AdministratorAn Administrator can do everything in the system.

Resource Roles

Users can be assigned resource-level roles for individual resources, allowing for fine-grained access control.

NameDescription
NoneThis user has no permissions for this resource.
ViewerA Viewer can only view this resource, not edit or delete it.
EditorAn Editor can view, edit and delete this resource.
AdministratorAn Administrator can do everything with this resource.

Assigning Resource Roles to a User

  1. Navigate to the appropriate page for resource.
    • Sessions page for Sessions
    • Recordings page for Recordings
    • Settings > Stream Configuration page for Streams
    • Settings > Connected Applications page for Streamers
  2. Click the Resource Permissions button on the right-hand side for the resource to be edited. This will bring up the Resource Permissions dialog.
  3. Use the Search Users input to find the target user and click on their name. This will add a new row in the dialog with the user's name and current role, which by default will be Viewer.
    • This step can be skipped if the user already has an entry.
  4. If desired, the dropdown can be used to change the user's resource role.
  5. Click the Save button.
