User Management
note
In the context of user management and access control within Performaar, the term resource is used as a catch-all for Streamers, Streams, Sessions and Recordings.
Creating a User
- Click the + New User button.
- Enter the required information. The username for each user must be unique. See below for more information about System Roles.
- Click the Create button.
Access Control & Permissions
Performaar has two levels of access control: system and resource.
System Roles
A user's system-level role determines their overall permissions within Performaar. The system role for a user can be changed from the Settings > User Management section.
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| None | This user has no system-wide permissions. |
| Viewer | A Viewer can only view all resources but not edit them. They can create new resources from the existing resources they can see (e.g. if they can see a Stream they can create a Session with it) |
| Editor | An Editor can create, view, edit and delete resources, but doesn't have access to administrator-level settings (eg. licensing). |
| Administrator | An Administrator can do everything in the system. |
Resource Roles
Users can be assigned resource-level roles for individual resources, allowing for fine-grained access control.
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| None | This user has no permissions for this resource. |
| Viewer | A Viewer can only view this resource, not edit or delete it. |
| Editor | An Editor can view, edit and delete this resource. |
| Administrator | An Administrator can do everything with this resource. |
Assigning Resource Roles to a User
- Navigate to the appropriate page for resource.
- Sessions page for Sessions
- Recordings page for Recordings
- Settings > Stream Configuration page for Streams
- Settings > Connected Applications page for Streamers
- Click the Resource Permissions button on the right-hand side for the resource to be edited. This will bring up the Resource Permissions dialog.
- Use the Search Users input to find the target user and click on their name. This will add a new row in the dialog
with the user's name and current role, which by default will be Viewer.
- This step can be skipped if the user already has an entry.
- If desired, the dropdown can be used to change the user's resource role.
- Click the Save button.
